What am I doing until Orlando?
I know what you’re thinking – you probably think I’m just planning and obsessing over Disney. While I am making time to be “OMGI’MGONNAWORKATDISNEYEEEEEP!”, I’m also doing several things this summer!
First, I’m taking an on-line class over the summer: Accounting II. I haaaaated Accounting I. Give me Calculus or Economics any day, but I hate Accounting. So I’ll be glad to get this class out-of-the-way. It starts on Monday. At least it’s on-line. I tend to do better in classes that I can do my own reading on. I’m what I like to call a “special learner”. You may think I’m kidding, but I’m not. I took a class that had use take a quiz and we broke up in to groups based on our “learning styles” and I was the only one in my group. It was kind of sad.
Also, I’m apart of a wonderful group called Band Back Together. The group is awesome. It’s a community blog that you can go to when you need help, someone to talk to, or support. This group is headed for amazingly big things. I highly recommend you check it out. Even if you don’t have something to write a post about, you can comment on a post that could really need it.
In a few weeks I’ll be working a Music Camp as the Head Female Counselor. This will be my 5th summer hired for this job. I’ve been in and out of meetings revamping the program and it’s going to be so FUN! I can’t wait!
Also, I’m in training. TO DO A HALF-MARATHON!!! Oh my goodness, right? It’s a Disney Half-Marathon, too. So, the day before yesterday I did Day 1 of Couch to 10k to start the training. (Yeah, I know a half-marathon is longer than a 10k. It’s just a start.) Unfortunately, after my first day of C210k, I realized the tennis shoes I have are not appropriate for this. My feet and ankles didn’t feel right afterwards. So, this means I’m on a short hiatus to do Day 2 until I buy new shoes. My brother said there’s this place called Fleet Feet that have you run for a minute and watch how your feet strike and recommend the type of shoes you should buy for how you run. So, I’m thinking of hitting that place up this weekend to get some new gear. Also, I have to buy a new Nike+ sensor because I’ve had 2 bad run ins with a store here. The first was opened and replaced with the foam insert that comes in the shoes and I went back and got a new one and then THAT ONE DIDN’T WORK! *sigh* So I need to go back again. I will do that tomorrow. I’m excited for this.
One last little poll I’d like to do. I know you Disney CPers are reading this (I can see how many hits I get!). On my last trip to Orlando (a couple of months ago) I accidentally bought some pins for my collection that I already have. I believe they are 3 Haunted Mansion pins. I’m debating between using them for pin trading OR having a fun little giveaway/contest on the blog. So, which do you think I should do?
It’s Just a Jump to the Left!
Last night was Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Orpheum. As usual, it was a blast. I’ve been every year since they started showing it regularly as part of their Summer Movie Series except one year. And I plan on going every year that I possibly can. The past two years I’ve been really lucky to sit next to people who know most of the shout outs. Who knows, maybe next year I’ll dress up?!
Speaking of dressing up – recently I’ve added a bunch of fashion blogs to my Google Reader (I have approximately 190 blogs I read. Yup, I read each one. Luckily, a good chunk are photography blogs – so they’re mostly pictures). This has caused me to break out of my shell a little. I went to the mall the other day and went into Victoria’s Secret (because I always get those “free panty” coupons in the mail) and saw a sparkly pink cardigan that I actually felt I needed to purchase ( I feel I should add here that I’ve almost always hated the colour pink… and now I like a cardigan that’s pink AND sparkly? I think I need to go see a therapist…). I didn’t though, being a broke college student means not a lot of play money in the weeks leading up to school (I have to buy 3 books for my classes and used it’s almost $400… yikes!). I did go into Forever 21 and I picked up an owl necklace (I’ve been eyeing some more expensive ones) for only $4! I also got 3 pairs of earrings for around $4 total. I also bought a dress that has a zipper down the front… I love it a lot – but how do tall girls get away with dresses that are made to be on the short side for “average” height girls. I’m not terribly tall – only 5’9″-ish. But with that, I have longer legs which means short skirts are even shorter on me. Tights work for the winter – but what about the summer months? Any suggestions?
School’s out. For. Summer.
Yes dear interwebs, school is officially out for summer. At least at my University. What does that mean? Obsessively stalking my grades, waiting to see what I failed made in my classes. I took a pretty challenging semester for the Spring, and the Fall will be just as bad. I’ve run out of Gen Eds to take (no more Music Appreciation or Intro to Theatre type classes) and I’m going head first – full on – into my business core classes.
Also, this means I have a chance to catch up on blogs that have been on hold due to projects, papers, finals, and life. It also means I can post more. Sorry internet, you made it possible for me to write on here, so now you’ll have to deal.
So, I thought I’d indulge you all with what I learned this semester.
- No matter how many times you try to give up sodas, the caffeine will call to you. It’s best to give in once in a while, or you might just go crazy. And when you give up your sodas and start drinking lots of water, you will have to pee every 5 minutes.
- Facebook is full of idiots. No lie. The only way to not catch the disease is by deleting the dumb friends. You’ll probably be left with 1. Your dog.
- You really should take a break from everything every so often. Go to a movie, watch Netflix, take a bubble bath, get a hobby, and spend time with your friends. Work and school aren’t everything.
I didn’t learn anything about Calculus or Economics, but I did learn if you try to study both on the same night, your brain will explode (pictures of that later).
So, something that I’ve been using to help keep me sane is editing photos and taking photos. Eventually I’ll start sharing some with you, especially when I revive my dead 365 project. Sadly, I only have trials of the software I’d love to get, and considering the prices of them it will likely be a while before I start-up my 365 project again.
Now I’m going to go press refresh over and over until my grades start popping up. Every time I hit refresh and my grades aren’t there, my soul fills up with a little bit of hate.
What are some fun things you’ve learned since the beginning of 2010?
